Sharks
Special Exhibit, American Museum of Natural History
Sharks is an immersive special exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History.  It features life-size models, video elements and interactive games that allow visitors to get face-to-face with these frightening, yet misunderstood, creatures.
I took a leading role in developing and implementing the show’s graphic identity. I worked with 3D designers, interactive designers, and writers to bring to life the show’s look and feel. I created a robust typographic system that could perform at many scales, material implementations, and audiences.
The show is interactive by nature, despite developing throughout the ever-shifting constraints of the pandemic. It features touch-free, motion-activated games, using motion sensors and air jets to control play. This simple subversion of expectation creates a visible sense of curiosity in visitors - a lesson in embracing constraints as opportunities for more creative exhibition design.
